IUCr Young and Early Career Scientists Awards

We have limited funding support from IUCr for Young and Early Career Scientists Awards.

Early-career scientists are graduate students, post-graduate students or post-doctoral fellows within five (5) years of receiving a graduate degree. Academic interruptions, including periods of parental leave, are taken into account.

Preference should be given to those early-career scientists who have published in IUCr journals and to early-career scientists from developing countries, particularly, but not limited to, from Latin America, Africa and South East Asia.

For meetings of a more general nature preference should be given to early-career scientists with a crystallographic background.

Applicant need register and participant this upcoming workshop at Shanghai, and submit application documents including:

Cover letter, CV and supporting letter from applicant‘s supervisor

to review committee before the deadline of Aug. 15, 2025. The winers will be noticed via email and officially announced at the banquet night on Sep. 24, 2025. Together with a special diploma signed by review committee chairs, award will be paid in cash on-site.

Review & Approval

The logo review committee and Young Scientist Awards review committee will be chaired by Drs. Arthur Haozhe Liu and Kamil Dziubek. After collecting the logo contributions, the current IUCr CHP committee members and previous chairs of this committee will discuss and vote for the winning design on the logo. This winning logo will be used at IUCr CHP homepage and the future workshop organized by this committee.
